The Liverpool head coach acknowledged that it was expected for questions to be raised about his position after another heavy loss versus PSV Eindhoven.
Liverpool suffered their 9th defeat in twelve games, representing the team's poorest run since being demoted in the 1953-54 season.
They were taken apart by the Dutch league title holders on a punishing night at Anfield.
“I am feeling safe, I am OK, I've received plenty of support from the top,” Slot remarked.
“It's important to reverse this trend and get a victory naturally but when you're coaching a team and underperforming then it's typical that people question you.”
He added, “I accept my position. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”
Upon being questioned to provide details on his dialogues with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot said:
“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and to me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me all the time each day to say they trust me.”
He added, “During our regular conversations we have I perceive the belief. But I've not talked to them after this defeat yet so it remains to be seen.”
The manager lamented recurring weaknesses from his team in their European loss, specifically poor finishing and conceding too easily.
Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his view of the current crisis.
“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I don’t. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.
“It is not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point now where I just don’t have the vocabulary.”
He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club all my life.”
“For many years, I've not seen a Liverpool team going through a period such as this with performances this poor.”
Jones stated, “However we still have the crest on our chest. And until that badge is gone, we’re always going to fight.”
“We’re going to try to help the side back to where it needs to be, prove once more what this club is about and the reason it's called the best team in the planet.”
“However currently, we're in trouble and it must improve.”
