A campaign is aiming to launch a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort seeks to provide aid to people in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.
Musician and artist Brian Eno, who performs on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a opportunity to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.
“It would be fantastic if that occurred, yes,” he stated. “I’m not gonna be completely disappointed if it fails to, Christmas singles are a category of their own.”
Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the version of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.
“It occupies a profound significance for countless listeners,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we seek to lead a life of dignity that we are entitled to as Palestinians.”
The single was laid down after a large-scale benefit event held in September. First conceived to be performed and recorded live, the piece was shelved during the concert due to scheduling overruns.
The diverse array of musicians featured on Lullaby features a group of acclaimed names from the music world. All were part of the earlier concert, which successfully generated a significant sum for charitable causes.
Lullaby was crafted by a team of talented individuals. The single features a fusion of the original Arabic with contemporary English verses.
The organizers behind the initiative have emphasized that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These resources will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.
“We haven't set a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We will pursue whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”
The situation in the region was described as its widespread damage, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings described as in ruins or severely impacted.
“Against that backdrop, a few million doesn’t make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is above all spreading knowledge of this plight and proving that another narrative exists.”
The single 'Lullaby' is launching this Friday. Additionally, a video of the charity concert will be made accessible to view on a major video platform from mid-December.
